My content isn't visible after publishing

Why I’m I not seeing the updates I have made after publishing my site.

When you visit a page, on any website, the browser caches its contents on your computer or mobile device.   If you then go back to a page your browsers will load the content from the cache. This makes loading pages faster and more efficient as it doesn’t have to load it from the internet.

The down side to this is that if you make changes to a page and it has been cached, because you have recently visited it before editing, your changes won’t be displayed as the browser will load it from the cache and not the internet where your changes have been stored. This is where a hard refresh can help. (see below)

Another way to check what a visitor to your website will see is to use another browser or a browser on another computer or mobile device as it won’t have been cached yet.

Parents don’t need to do this.

The cache is automatically cleared by the browser after a short period of time so parents should always see the latest published information unless in the very unlikely event they have visited the same page/s just before you published it and then go back to it after you have published all within a few minutes.

If after publishing and a hard refresh you still don’t see your changes you may be connected to a proxy server in your school.

A simple way of checking this to use the web browser on your phone with its wifi turned OFF.

This will bypass your schools poxy server. If you can now see your updates it’s very likely your schools proxy server is also caching your pages. Your IT technician should be able to permanently bypass this for the browser on your computer.
