We have created a simple guide to help you take great photos that can easily be used on your school website. The photos specifically used on the homepage slideshows are heavily cropped to fit the letterbox shape commonly found on modern websites. Standard photo sizes cannot be used without cropping. To allow for this, you need to follow these tips:

• Stand well back from the subject
• Hold the camera or phone in landscape mode
• Focus the main subject in the centre with plenty of surrounding image
• Try to visualise how the image will be cropped
• Using modern camera phones such as the iPhone is advised
• Portrait photos are not suitable
